Ultra high purity Silica Sol

Silica sols are aqueous, solvent-free, low-odour, colloidal solutions of amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO2). Our ultra high purity silica sol is produced by sol-gel synthesis from ultra high purity alkoxysilane. Purity up to 99.9999%.

The term colloid refers to the suspension, where the sols are the tiny discrete particles in suspension.

Product Details

Silica sol

Silica sol is sometimes called colloidal silica.

Silica sol is water-based solution containing colloidal particles of amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO2).

Silica sols are solvent-free, meaning they do not contain any organic solvents. This makes them safer to use and reduces environmental impact compared to solvent-based alternatives.

Our customized manufacturing process produces a controlled particle size and aggregate ratio and shapes which is difficult to find in the market.

Our ultra high purity silica sol is produced by sol-gel synthesis from ultra high purity alkoxysilane .Purity up to 99.9999%.

Characteristics:

  1. Various particle size and particle shape

  2. Uniform dispersibility and narrow particle size distribution

  3. Less lot to lot vriation.

  4. Compared with redispersible solids, silica sol does not require the use of additives such as dispersants, emulsifiers or thickeners.

Applications:

Silica Sol has many applications for Ink-jet paper, functional resin, coatings. Most recently, it has been used by the semiconductor industry as a polishing agent.

  1. Nanocomposites: Silica sols are used as fillers in nanocomposite materials to enhance mechanical properties, thermal stability, and barrier properties.

  2. Coatings: Silica sols are used in coatings for their high surface area and ability to improve scratch resistance, weather resistance, and adhesion.

  3. Ink-jet paper: Silica sols are used in the coating of ink-jet paper to improve print quality, ink absorption, and drying speed.

  4. Functional resin: Silica sols are used as a binder or filler in functional resins to improve hardness, abrasion resistance, and thermal stability.

What is the difference between colloidal silica and silica sol?

Colloidal silica and silica sol are terms often used interchangeably to describe a stable suspension of very small silica particles in a liquid. The primary difference lies in their intended use and sometimes in the specific manufacturing process.

Colloidal silica consists of a stable dispersion amorphous silica particles, while silica sol specifically refers to a colloidal silica solution where the particles are dispersed in water.

Silica sol is often used as a binder or filler in various applications, including coatings, adhesives, and catalysts, while colloidal silica can refer to a wider range of silica suspensions, including those dispersed in organic solvents or other liquids.
